Yes! We’re the casual offshoot of Chef Mike Friedman’s beloved All-Purpose Pizzeria in the Shaw neighborhood of D.C. Each concept has its own menu, with a few overlaps—including the Buona and AP Caesar!

We are located above a private parking garage accessible on 4747 Bethesda Ave and 7200 Wisconsin Ave. It is open from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm ($8.00 for up to 2 hours, $15 daily max and $5 on evenings and weekends). There are also several public parking garages in the surrounding area.

Absolutely. Kids are welcome at AP Pizza Shop. Just let our team know when you arrive so we can pull a high chair or seat your group together.

We are open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. We do not offer brunch… yet.

We’re so glad you asked. Join us for slice happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily and enjoy $1 off slices.

We bake deck-oven, Italian-American pizzas: crisp on the bottom, chewy in the middle, with a light char from the deck. 12-inch whole pies at dinner, 18-inch whole pies and slices at lunch.

Guest favorites include the Buona (pepperoni, Calabrian chili honey, basil), the Sedgewick (whipped ricotta, taleggio, black truffle honey), the Rubirosa (cup-and-char pepperoni, basil swirl), the Funghi (wild mushrooms, parm fonduta, black truffle sauce), and the Andy Boy (broccoli rabe, stracciatella, Calabrian chili). First time? Any of those five is a safe bet.

Yes! We offer gluten-free dough on all 12-inch pizzas. Just select “gluten-free crust” as a topping at checkout and we’ll handle the rest. Heads up for celiac and gluten-sensitive guests: gluten-free pies bake on a dedicated pan but share an oven with wheat-flour pizzas, so we can’t guarantee a fully celiac-safe environment.

Vegetarians have plenty to choose from: the Standard, Funghi, Sedgewick, Andy Boy, our salads, and our arancini. Vegan is trickier since most pies have cheese, but we can build a Sicilian Marinara without pecorino or a cheese-less Standard with extra vegetables or go custom. Just let us know when you order!

Yes! We bake focaccia in-house with our sister concept Fossette Focacceria. The lineup includes the Chicken Parm, Mortazza (mortadella, stracciatella, pistachio crema), Italiano (Italian cured meats), Caprese, Tartufo (prosciutto cotto, stracciatella, arugula, black truffle honey), and Circolo (smoked turkey, lemon aioli). Great alongside a slice or on their own.

Small groups are welcome at the counter and at our handful of tables. Since we don’t take reservations, larger parties may need to split up or wait at busy times. For bigger gatherings, our catering pickup or whole pies to go are usually the easier route.

Chef Mike Friedman, a James Beard semifinalist, leads the kitchen. He built the All Purpose Pizzeria concept in DC’s Shaw neighborhood before bringing the casual deck oven counterpart to Bethesda, and has spent his career cooking Italian and Italian-American food.

Sister concepts, both led by Chef Mike Friedman. All Purpose Pizzeria in Shaw, DC is the full-service original with a Roman-leaning menu and a full bar. AP Pizza Shop on Bethesda Row is the casual, deck oven counterpart for dine in, takeout, and delivery. A few favorites like the Buona and the AP Caesar appear on both menus, but each location has its own pies and sandwiches.
